Markets are going through some serious turbulence right now. Every day there seems to be news of extreme swings.
But even so, US stocks are riding into the 10th year of a bull market, making it the second-best run in the modern economic era.
While that boom hasn’t attracted everyone back into the market — stock ownership has dropped to 54% from 62% since the financial crisis — many have ridden stocks higher, even in the face of volatility.
As market commentators begin to call the top of the market and as interest rates inch higher, investors are looking for the next opportunity. And the former hedge fund manager who now hosts CNBC’s “Mad Money,” Jim Cramer, offers his take on the next opportunity.
“When a rate cycle starts, even from a higher level, the first few rate hikes are fine,” he says. “But we have now had five rate hikes, and you now have to be thinking real impact to the economy.”
Cramer launched Action Alerts PLUS, or AAP, to allow investors to follow the moves he’s making in the market. The investing club tracks the portfolio of Cramer’s charitable trust.
AAP members receive advanced notice of every trade the portfolio makes as well as direct access to Cramer and his research team through forums, weekly roundups, and research on current and potential holdings.
Each trade is driven by the action in the market, with members receiving alerts if Cramer sees a move he’d like to make in the market, even if he can’t make it himself because he’s restricted from trading.
The AAP team also provides insight into stocks it views as long-term holdings, and groupings of companies are broken down into “growth,” “value,” “blend,” and “income” so investors can choose stocks that fit into their portfolio.
To keep members abreast of the day’s major market events, Cramer offers his thoughts every morning in Jim’s Daily Rundown. Live from the floor of the NYSE, he discusses his portfolio, the best performing stocks, and shares insights into what’s moving the market, providing the opportunity for investors to position themselves for the trading day ahead.
And for those still learning the ins and outs of the market, AAP also has a section of educational content that shares personal lessons from the team as well as important alerts the team wants to highlight.
But perhaps the most attractive feature for market followers and fans of Cramer are the monthly Members-Only calls. In these hour-long video calls, Cramer shares his top investing ideas and answers questions from the community.
As the bull market hopefully rides into a second decade, and attention increasingly turns to the Federal Reserve, AAP could offer value to both aspiring and accomplished investors.
